Happy New Year Samvat 2069 !!!!!!!
Diwali or Deepawali,
is also known as the Festival
of Lights. Sanskrit word "Deepavali" -
Deepa meaning light and Avali, meaning a row. During
the Festival of Lights, 'deeps', or oil lamps, are
burned throughout the day and into the night to ward
off darkness and evil. Diwali - The Festival of
Lights - apart from being the most widely celebrated
is one of the most colorful Indian festivals. It is
a festival of joy, splendor, brightness and
happiness.
Since last 5-7 years, we are proud that, now it is
the tradition of Rotary Club of Borivli to celebrate
Diwali with Tribal students. This year too we
celebrated Diwali with students of Kurze
Ashramshala. There were about 550 students waiting
eagerly for us. On 10th November,
about 50 Rotarians and their family members visited
Kurze. All gathered at 3.30pm to travel by Bus to
Kurze. The traditional welcome by staff and students
of Kurze Ashramshala was as excited as event for all
present there. The students lit diyas all over the
school ground with a novel idea by collecting wild
fruits and cut in half to make it oil lamp diya,
instead of traditional clay diya.
Very delicious dinner (Misal and Vada Pav) was also
arranged by us for all the students. As soon as they
finished their dinner, in a much disciplined manner
all students were seated all over the ground to
receive crackers brought by us. All children of
Rotarians were also equally excited to distribute
and lit it with them. The joy and happiness can be
felt on their faces. The happy screams by all
children with fireworks going up one by one made the
whole atmosphere livelier. Year after year Diwali
celebration with these students surely adds more
satisfaction in Rotarians. The DJ after all
fireworks is icing on the cake for students and
Rotarians dancing with them.
The surprise for Rotarians and their family members
was by getting the return greetings in form of
Greeting cards and Warli paintings prepared by
students. Special thanks to Rtn. Harish Chandarana
and Rtn. Mukesh Thakkar for nice arrangements, PP
Rtn. Umesh Soni for arranging crackers and all
donors for making it a grand success.

happy moments for all present there. This is my
request to all to witness this wonderful project in
future. All celebrations and parties are routine for
us but Diwali celebration with Tribal students is
surely a special one.
