From bottom of my heart
I thank all of you for reposing faith in
me to lead the club during this Silver Jubilee year. I
acknowledge and thank all the Past Presidents of our Club and
their teams who have demonstrated great leadership and
foresight. Today, our Club finds mention in the Community and
the District is just because of their hard work.
At the outset let me
congratulate champion pres Mudrak Lalaji,
Secretary Ashish and entire Champion team for the wonderful year
2012-13.

July,2013 during my installation. Though idea was mine but
PP Chetan and Rtn Ashish did wonderful work to make it reality.

Friends, any kind of
unconditional act of service, no matter how
small, our mind quiets, and we feel a sense of gratefulness.
This inner transformation fundamentally shifts the direction of
our lives and we become the change that we wish to see in the
World. That’s the Club theme this year “BE THE CHANGE”.
Friends now let me share some of the mega projects and events
planned for the year 2013-14.
1. Sanjeevani Rotary Medical Kit. (Signature project of the year)
On a Dark, Rainy Saturday night with thunderous lightening and
heavy shower around, Raju, a teenager living in Adivasi area
catches fever and there is neither Doctor nor medicine
available. Doctor will be available after 2 days. Condition of Raju worsens in these two days and he succumbs to
illness. Friends one strip of Ibuprofen of just Rs 20/- could
have saved this boy. This is the story of many such Rajus in
our nearby villages. This gave birth to an idea of “Sanjeevani Rotary
Medical Kit” which will engage Rotary and will Save Lives.
This kit will have most of the necessary Over-the-counter
(OTC) medicines for common ailments like cold, cough,
fever, headaches, Stomach ache, tooth ache, and will also
consist of Thermometer, eye and ear drops, Burn Cream, Band
aids, Antiseptic Cream and many more. The kit has been
designed in consultation with Doctors and Pharmacist. we can
distribute this to semi rural areas and municipal schools as
well. Each Kit will bear sticker in local language explaining
the usage of various drugs for a particular illness.
Thru persistent efforts we could subsidies the cost of this
kit to just Rs 300/-.
During Silver Jubilee Year we
distributed 2000 Kits. Please

2. Mumbai Daud – A missionary moves miles to miles spreading the
divine message to the masses. A visionary moves from dream to
dream chalking out the blue print for better future. Well
friends we at Rotary are combination of both & for this we
have envision Walkathon. Walk for Cause with NGO , Schools
and Colleges. This will be a mega PR project. 25th Dec we
organized Mumbai Daud in which more than 1100 people
participated and spread the message of Eye Donation in
Community.

Matushree Manjulaben Dolatrai Desai Rotary Eye Bank – Our eye bank is operational from last 6
years. we intent to expand our reach this year and like to open more
satellite centers by working with other Rotary clubs.We like to establish one satellite center every
10 KM area. During Silver Jubilee year we have purchased
Brand new premise at Shop no 3, Rajendra Nagar, Borivli.
4. Global Grant – In a Study its found that More than 50%
of Indian schools have less than 3 teachers per school. Most of
the students lack basic reading and maths skills which leads to
low motivation and low confidence. Rotary Distance Education
Program aims to address this problem. RDEP will empower Youth
through technology driven Quality Education. We have Applied
for 120,000$ Global Grant for implementing RDEP in 100 schools.
This project can CHANGE LIVES of around 50,000 students every
year.
In District Thrust Areas: (Chhatra chhaya:) Our club has agreed to sponsor one
Rotary Kutir in the Shilonde area; Dahanu district.
Mangal Patra: Better known as mid-day meals. This is one
of the most gratifying and an all time project for R C Borivli
year after year. What could be a more worthy project that
encompasses basic needs of food, education, health and PR all
rolled in one. Friends, the cost of khichdi is a mind-boggling
figure of just Rs. 4.50/day for khichdi that is wholesome,
nutritional and delivered fresh & hot every day. This is less
that the price of a pav-vada or a samosa. We like to sponsor
250 Midday Meal this year. Please come forward and sponsor
as many midday meal as possible.
Art & Culture: Rotary Kanheri Festival– we have pioneered
this project of promoting art and culture in Borivli and
District 3140. Aligning with district thrust area This year
young talented artist will perform with celebrated artists
before young generation.

celebration in the month of January, 2014.

Rotary and Change lives", District says "Achieving
Continuous Excellence" & our club theme is "Be the Change"
