Monsoons
in India specially around Mumbai brings lot of relief from the summer
season. Recently picnics in Monsoon have become a trend and trekking
activities also get popular. The green landscapes of Sahyadris provide lots
of places for 1 or 2 days of escape from the city life.
A fine
monsoon Sunday morning to explore the contours of the misty mountains and
the chill air, about 35 enthusiast Rotarians and their family members
preferred to spend it for adventure in this wet season and chose to join
Monsoon trek arranged by our club to Tungareshwar temple on 16th Sep. All
gathered at McDonald to board the bus at 8:30am and reached Vasai to start
their walk of about 4 kms in this wonderful misty weather. En-route nice
arrangements of snacks were done by Rtn. Avinash Gujarathi. After
a short drive we left our bus near Vasai, NH8 and began our trekking on
crooked and rocky hill road. All
kids along with adults were very excited and preferred not to hire any auto
to reach Tungareshwar temple. Three
RYE students Giovanna, Sofia and Camille also joined the group. With
full of enjoyment and fun everyone walked entire trek of 4 kms, to get
blessings of Mahadev and enjoyed nature with wild animals like monkeys and
waterfalls along the way. The
zigzag hills towards temple are an ecstatic beauty in the monsoon. The
climate was tender and green. After
Shiv-darshan and fresh Kanda Bhaji, all grabbed the opportunity to enjoy the
natural waterfall about 500 mtr from Temple.
At 3pm, all chose to walk back 4 km trek to return home. While
trekking back, we passed through the hairpins to take glimpses of the monsoon
waterfalls and some wild insects too. All
had the delicious food at Kathiawadi restaurant near Vasai NH8. Overall it was a
perfect fellowship project with lots of memories.
